SHARE JOY CLUBS

Objective

Share Joy Clubs aim to engage students in meaningful activities that enhance personal development, promote environmental stewardship, and foster social responsibility. The clubs are expected to impact over 1,000 students annually.

Program Details

  • Target Group: Students in universities and secondary schools (both single and mixed).
  • Start Date: First quarter of 2025.
  • Initial Focus: Kampala and Central Uganda, with plans for future expansion.

Progress & Expansion

  • We have successfully established a Share Joy Club at Uganda Christian University.
  • We have also reached out to Mengo Senior School, Gayaza High School, and Namirembe Hillside, where there has been an expressed need from the administration for such initiatives.

ACTIVITIES

  • Extracurricular Engagement: Encourage students to participate in diverse activities that foster personal growth and responsibility, including sports, arts, and academic competitions.
  • Climate Change Advocacy: Require each member to plant a tree for membership and engage in projects that transition from non-renewable to renewable resources, such as shifting from plastic to paper packaging.
  • Environmental Initiatives: Advocate for climate preservation and clean water management, and implement sustainable practices.
  • Tonkwatako Advocacy: Train members to be ambassadors for the Tonkwatako campaign, raising awareness and preventing sexual harassment.
  • Charity Work: Organize and participate in charity activities, including monetary and in-kind donations to underprivileged and orphaned children, along with personal visits and tours.

Impact

  • Immediate: Engage over 1,000 students annually in activities that enhance personal growth and responsibility.
  • Short-Term: Increase awareness and participation in
environmental and social causes among students, leading to practical actions such as tree planting and advocacy efforts.
  • Long-Term: Develop a generation of responsible, proactive, and environmentally conscious individuals who positively contribute to their communities.
